Team Northumbria Rugby Strategic Aims:

  • To become the most 'athlete focused' rugby program in BUCS
  • To prioritise individual technical and tactical development
  • Deliver the highest level of off field support, particularly in Strength and Conditioning.
  • Produce players that graduate into part or full time contracts or go onto play at the highest level that they can achieve
  • Remain focused on holistic welfare of 'Student-Athletes'.

Team Northumbria Structure:

  • Men's 1st XV - BUCS Prem A (top level of University Rugby)
  • Women's 1st XV - BUCS 1A Champions
  • Men's 2nd XV - Tier 2, targeting promotion for 2013/14
  • Men's 3rd XV - tIER 3 Champions, promoted to Tier 2 for 2013/14

Performance Squad:

  • Fully structured training week
  • Supervised Strength and Conditioning sessions with personalised programme
  • Full access to Physiotheraphy and Rehabilitation
  • Indoor skills sessions to develop individal and pposiitonal technique

2013/14 Pre-season:

  • Begind late August 2013 (Men), early September (Women)
  • Staggered return in growing numbers over 6 weeks

Scholarships

Every year Team Northumbria awards generous Sport Scholarships to talented athletes studying at Northumbria University.

There are three types of Scholarships available:

  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Bronze
