Group Exercise

Northumbria University Sport offers a diverse programme of Group Exercise Classes every week. Our professionally trained instructors have put together a comprehensive range of classes to suit your needs from Boxing Conditioning to Revolution.

New classes include Aqua Zumba, Bowka, I Move Freely and Ab Blast.

Customer Announcement (15.05.2013)

Pilates this Friday 17th May has been cancelled.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Pilates will continue as timetabled on 24th May and 31st May (13:30-14:30).
From 7th June until 13th September the class will be held from 13:00-14:00.

Group Exercise Class Unrestricted £3.25/incl* £3.65 £4.25

Member = Applicable to individuals that hold a Sport Central or Coach Lane membership.
Concession = Norhumbria University students, Staff Members, U16's or over 60's. Proof required.
Non member = Applicable to those that do not hold a membership or qualify for concession rate.

*Group Exercise classes are included if you hold a Platinum, Complete Swim or Fitness and Central Fitness.  If you hold a Central Swim membership then you will qualify for a reduced member rate.

iMoveFreely™...New to Group Exercise!

Move more freely with Northumbria University Sport...

Whether you are a performace athlete or an office worker, everyone needs correct alignment, great core and muscles that are able to work properly.

Hour long instructor led iMoveFreely™ claases are now available at Sport Central and provide you with very simple techniques to enable you to move more freely with less pain through 3 distinct phases.

1) Before the Core
Learn how to resolve biomechanical weakness you didn't even know you had, through muscle, nerve and joint release techniquesyou can perform here, at homeor even at your desk!

2) True Core Stabilisation
Learn how to engage your core safely and ensure your body's mechanics are working correbtly and in good alignment.

3) Shoulder Release/Knee Re-alignment  
This phase prepares your body for functional movement by releasing and condiitoning the shoulder and re-aligning the knee with conditioning work.

Group Exercise Rating System

A Group Exercise class rating system is in place which will help you understand the level of Intensity and Co-ordination required for each class.

Intensity

1: Low Intensity
2: Moderate Intensity
3: High Intensity

Co-ordination

1: Little to no co-ordination
2: Some basic co-ordination
3: High Level of co-ordination

Group Exercise Class Cancellation Procedure

You must cancel an exercise class booking no later than one hour before its start time if you can no longer attend. Failure to do so will result in members being charged a non-members rate for the class. Please note, if a class is full and you have booked onto the reservation list please contact the venues reception any time up to 1 hour before the class start time to check whether a space has become available.

BodyCombat™ 55 and BodyPump™ 85 New Choreography Launch!

Dont miss the new choregraphy launch of BodyCombat™ 55 and BodyPump™ 85!

Both classes are open to everyone, no prior experience is necessary. Classes will be delivered by fully qualified staff who will take you through the choreography step by step and the best part is they are FREE to everyone!

BodyCombat™55: 17:15-18:15 (100 places)
BodyPump™ 85: 18:30-19:30 (60 places)

Places are allocated on a first come first served basis today and must be booked in advance.
