Northumbria University has a long standing commitment to Community Sport; from the development of students to impact positively on their local communities through the delivery of community-based sporting initiatives to the open access of facilities for members of the public across each of our sports venues.
The local community is vitally important to Northumbria University and through this continuous and ever expanding commitment, through sport, to local and regional engagement the University has established itself firmly at the heart of the North East’s sporting community.
Through the Sport Northumbria Foundation Northumbria University students plan, develop and deliver community based projects and initiatives.
Northumbria University forms part of the Wallace group which was established in 2005 bringing together 6 of the UK’s leading sporting universities to work on strategic international sport development projects.
The Sport Northumbria Foundation is a discrete charity that was established in 2005 and works in partnership with Northumbria University to deliver sport to the community.
